The brief

A beachfront home designed for calm and flow, made to be lived in rather than to impress.

 

Design decisions

• Open plan, zoned without walls. Living, dining and lounge areas are defined by furniture, rugs and lighting, keeping the sea views open.

• A restrained, tonal palette. Warm stone, soft upholstery and timber keep the rooms quiet; depth comes from texture rather than colour.

• Joinery as architecture. Custom joinery anchors the main spaces while staying visually light.

• Light in layers. Concealed and ambient lighting give the rooms depth in the evening.
